The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is working in partnership with its co-funders in order to respond to the impact of COVID-19.
Premier Mark McGowan and Lotterywest have today established a $159 million COVID-19 relief fund to provide support to organisations that are helping people experiencing hardship.
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, the State Government will introduce further restrictions on travel within Western Australia from midnight Tuesday night (12.00am Wednesday morning).

Following the commencement of amendments to the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1998, the following clarification is advised.
Six-month occasional liquor licenses to allow for sale of liquor with takeaway meals. Liquor restrictions adjusted for cellar door sales. Hotline and email set up for licensees with queries about packaged liquor.
The State Government, in consultation with the WA Commissioner of Police, has introduced temporary restrictions on takeaway alcohol across the State, to ensure Western Australia is well prepared to respond to COVID-19 and minimise alcohol-related problems in the community.

His Excellency the Governor, in Executive Council, has approved regulations to allow local government councils to hold meetings electronically during a public health emergency or a state of emergency. This can be via teleconference, video conference or other electronic means.

Under the Emergency Management Act 2005, the Commissioner of Police and State Emergency Coordinator, Chris Dawson, has issued directions regarding the closure of various establishments to the public in WA to limit the spread of COVID-16.
At 12.00pm today, as part of a nationally consistent approach, all cultural and art institutions in Western Australia will close in the interests of public safety in response to COVID-19.
